Unlocking full potential to maximise performance
WHAT WE DO
We provide mentoring support for athletes helping them navigate their life and career
on and off the field.
SERVICE

1:1 Athlete mentoring

Coaching athletes off the pitch, helping them navigate personal and professional crossroads with clarity and confidence. This 1-to-1 work is about creating a safe space for honest reflection, guiding them toward their own right answers by challenging thinking, unlocking perspective, and building trust. It’s coaching rooted in respect for the person behind the performer, empowering them to take ownership of who they are and where they’re headed.

Team / group mentoring
Supporting teams by creating environments where athletes feel seen, heard, and valued beyond their roles. We help foster a culture of psychological safety, encouraging honest conversations and individual reflection. Through workshops, drop-in coaching, and ongoing dialogue, I empower teams to build stronger connections, increase emotional awareness, and navigate off-pitch challenges together. It’s about shifting culture from performance-driven to person-centred so each player feels supported as part of a collective.

Club
support

Coaching decision-makers across the sporting landscape by offering insight, challenge, and emotional intelligence to help drive a more person-centred culture. For managers, coaching staff, and senior leaders, I provide a sounding board for leadership dilemmas, team dynamics, and the pressures of performance environments. Whether it’s navigating difficult conversations, strengthening team cohesion, or exploring their own development, I create a safe space for reflective dialogue, tailored coaching, and courageous thinking, so leadership doesn’t have to mean going it alone.
WHY
In a high-pressure sporting environment, holistic support is no longer a luxury it’s a necessity. Person Before Player offers a human-first approach that champions the wellbeing of athletes, strengthens team cohesion, and fosters leadership grounded in emotional intelligence. For players, it’s a chance to pause, reflect, and reconnect with who they are beyond the game. For teams, it’s an opportunity to build trust, open dialogue, and deepen understanding. And for clubs, it’s about embedding a culture that values the person as much as the performance creating a legacy built not just on results, but on relationships, resilience, and real impact. This isn’t just support; it’s a shift in mindset.

Professional Footballer
After speaking to Paddy Gamble or an hour or so the other day, I realised what a top guy he is and I want to really support his passion by sharing his business to my network.
He is supporting athletes as a mentor and a coach. He really emphasises on the ‘person before player’.
Really recommend to anyone to reach out to Paddy as he can help you on and off the pitch.
Accounts Receivable Specialist
"Paddy, I really enjoyed your session on Purpose & Mindset! One thing that stuck with me was your advice to ‘steal the opportunity’ and I did exactly that! Just like in your session where you taught the GROW model through live coaching, I didn’t just learn it, I stole it. Thanks for the invaluable insights and practical strategies!"

In this episode, David sits down with Paddy Gamble, the founder of the Person Before Player initiative aimed at supporting footballers off the pitch. Paddy, a former professional footballer himself, shares his journey and the challenges he faced transitioning out of the sport. I had a brilliant chat on Burton FM's 'Snoozy Breakfast' diving into some great topics about athlete wellbeing. If you want to hear my segment, tune in at 1:46:47, but the whole episode's a treat. Enjoy!
